Nehemiah: Renewal Returns to Scripture || Ps. Anna Couston
Renewal Returns to Scripture In Nehemiah 8, we see a powerful moment where the people of God gather to hear His Word read aloud — and they are cut to the heart. Renewal never happens apart from a return to Scripture. As Ezra reads, the people weep, grieved by how far they have strayed. But Scripture does not leave them in sorrow — it also reminds them of God’s faithfulness. Their grief gives way to celebration, as they remember who God is and rejoice in His mercy. When we open the Word of God, it reveals both our brokenness and God’s goodness. Renewal is sparked when we are willing to be shaped by Scripture — when we allow it to both convict and comfort, to lead us from repentance into joy. “Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” — Nehemiah 8:10 As we return to God's Word, we respond not only with our hearts but with our whole lives.
