Nehemiah: Renewal Assumes Opposition || Rev. Michael Hands

August 17, 2025
Renewal Assumes Opposition | Nehemiah 4:6–9, 15–23 On Sunday, Rev. Michael reminded us that every move of God will face resistance. Nehemiah’s rebuilding of Jerusalem’s walls was more than a construction project—it was a spiritual battle. In the same way, whenever God stirs renewal in our lives or in His church, opposition should not surprise us. It is often the very sign that His work is advancing. Yet Nehemiah shows us how to respond: with both prayer and a plan. The people built the wall with one hand while holding their weapons in the other. They did not shrink back or lose focus; instead, they combined spiritual dependence with practical wisdom. Renewal requires both. The danger is letting the battle blur the breakthrough. Resistance is real, but so is the victory God has promised. If we remain steadfast—watchful in prayer and faithful in action—we will see God complete what He has begun.
