Exodus: Rest || Meredith Knox

March 1, 2026
This Sunday, we were honoured to hear from Meredith Knox, a Bible teacher, pastor, worship leader and coach from South Carolina, USA, who has spent over 15 years serving the local church across a wide range of ministries. Preaching from Exodus 20:8, Meredith invited us into a deeper understanding of rest — not as something optional, but as a defining marker of what it means to live in the freedom of God. Why would God include rest among the first commandments? Because rest reveals His character. From the very beginning, God models a rhythm of work and rest — not out of need, but out of purpose. Sabbath is not simply about stopping, but about trusting. It reminds us that we are not defined by our striving, but by our belonging. True rest is found not just in a day, but in a Person. In Christ, we see the fulfilment of Sabbath — where our souls are restored, our identity is secured and our lives are reoriented around Him. If you call Newlife home, thank you for your generosity — your giving enables moments like these and helps us continue to reach more people with the hope of Jesus.
