1 Corinthians 7:1-16 || Ps. Megan Jung

September 13, 2026
Does God care about sex and marriage? What is God’s vision for how husbands and wives experience sex within marriage? In this installment of our 1 Corinthians series, Ps. Megan Jung unpacks 1 Corinthians 7:1-16, where Paul corrects the Corinthians' confused views on sex, marriage, and singleness with a radically countercultural vision. She addresses three ‘missed approaches’ in how the church has often spoken - or not spoken enough - on these topics: over-elevating sex and marriage, over-romanticising marriage, and not honestly teaching and reflecting the challenges of married life. Digging into the Corinthian’s surrounding cultural understanding of sex and marriage, Ps Megan explores three truths: • Marriage is a gift — sex has a good and rightful home within marriage, to be enjoyed and honored, not idealized or avoided • Marriage is mutual — spouses give to and yield to one another in love, never through control, coercion, or entitlement • Your identity is in Christ, not your relationship status — married, single, divorced, or anything in between, true belonging is found only in Jesus. Follow along for our next installment of our 1 Corinthians series.
