1 Corinthians 11:17-34
Is it possible for the church to be worse off after meeting together for worship? Some of the strongest correction in 1 Corinthians centres around their approach to communion. Ps Anna Couston teaches through Paul’s rebuke of the Corinthian church regarding the Lord’s Table where the inequalities of the city’s culture were beginning to infiltrate the worshipping community’s practices. Drawing from both this letter and the gospels, Ps Anna shows us how Paul corrected the Corinthian’s practice and realigned their understanding of what the communion meal actually meant: - Communion can be corrupted
- Communion as the corrective
- Communion is Christ’s presence Ultimately, the examination to which Paul calls the church should lead us TO the table, not away from it.
