1 Corinthians 1:10-17 || Ps. Anna Couston

July 26, 2026
Have you ever overheard a parent giving correction to a wayward child? Welcome to Paul’s letter to the Corinthians. In week two of our series on 1 Corinthians, Ps Anna Couston explores verses 10-17 of chapter one where Paul appeals to them to be united, not divided by personality or quarrels. He warns them of three dangers: • Danger of division - the poisonous effect of division on the whole body • Danger of personalities - we are not called to personality cults or celebrity Christianity. Wee are called to one person - Christ, who reconciles us to a perfectly united triune God • Danger of comparison - no individual ministry is more important than any other. Paul’s call to unity is vital groundwork for his later instruction to the Corinthians around spiritual gifts, the function of the Body, and the love that should exist between members of the body.
