The Opportunity

The Café Manager, Gathering Co is a full-time, permanent role based at Newlife Robina, responsiblefor the day-to-day running of the café and provision of catering services, leading a skilled team, andpartnering with the chef to deliver a high-quality, contemporary menu. This role will suit a hospitalityleader who thrives in a fast-paced, community-oriented environment and is excited to help make thecafe a destination for excellent food, coffee, and warm, Christ-centred hospitality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all front-of-house and back-of-house cafe operations, including service, kitchencoordination, ordering, and stock control.
  • Lead, roster, coach, and develop a high-performing team of cafe staff, including baristas,attendants, and kitchen staff.
  • Ensure superior customer service, promptly address feedback or complaints, and cultivate awelcoming atmosphere for regulars, visitors, and volunteers.
  • Develop, offer and promote event catering and venue hire options.
  • Manage labour and food costs, monitor revenue and expenses, and implement strategies toimprove efficiency and profitability.
  • Maintain compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safetyrequirements, including sanitation and regulatory standards.
  • Promote the cafe within the local community and church through events, word-of-mouth, andsimple marketing initiatives such as specials and social media recommendations.

About You

  • Proven experience as a Cafe Manager, Restaurant Manager, Hospitality Manager, or similarleadership role in food and beverage.
  • Strong food and beverage knowledge, with the ability to partner effectively with kitchen staffon menu quality, consistency, and presentation.
  • Demonstrated leadership, people management, and coaching skills, with the ability to build apositive, motivated team culture.
  • Solid financial and operational management capability, including rostering, cost control, anduse of point-of-sale or hospitality software.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to workcollaboratively with staff, volunteers, suppliers, and ministry leaders.
  • A commitment to the mission, values, and ethos of Newlife Church and the Uniting Church inAustralia, and a desire to contribute to a Christ-centred team environment.

Requirements

  • Relevant qualifications in hospitality management, business, or a related field are desirable;culinary training is a plus.
  • Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card), or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
  • Current driver’s licence and legal right to work in Australia (evidence of working rights may be requested).
